Why do you need to keep pest control in winter?

Winter arrival also means less or no activity of flying insects. With the winter season coming it is considered that pests have gone o rest and will not trouble us. But don’t be fooled by the pests’ absence. Pests might get slow down as winter comes but they still exist and reproduce.

In winter pests hide inside the very deep corner and areas of the house where they can stay in warmth. And as soon warmer days come pests start infesting all over the house. Keeping the pest control practice during winter will help save your time and home from future infestation.

Reason for pest control in winter

  • With the decrease in temperature outside pests thrive to go inside with pleasant weather, which made it necessary to deal with pests in winter as well.

  • Winter doesn’t termite the pests hidden deep inside the wall cracks or crevices.

  • Termites, cockroaches, spiders, and many other insects search places such as the basement to survive their winters. And they come out as soon as summer is about to come and infest your entire house.

  • If you inspect your home you may not find any insects related issues at the moment but their presence in the deep corner will increase the risk of pest infestation in the future.

  • Inspecting entry points and deep holes can protect your homes from future sudden pest attacks.

  • Spider webs are special and can be found in winter as well which anyway needs to be handled.

How to keep the pests out in winters

  • Seal the cracks and holes outsides the home to prevent rodent activity inside. And make sure to check the area where pipes enter the house.

  • Replace the loose-fitting windows or doors in the basement these are a big reason for insects and rodents present in the home basement.

  • Firewood should be kept a little far from the house wall as they invite ants, rodents, and termites. And termites and ants love to make nests in the wood pile which provides to them enter the house well.

  • Clutter should be cleaned and thrown in dustbins as clutter makes an ideal place for insects to live in.

  • Install screen vents to the chimney to protect them from insect activity. Keep the basement and crawling space properly ventilated and dry.

  • Eliminate the reason for moisture around pipes and drainage. Repair the leakage and clogged drains to prevent moisture around them.

  • Make sure not to leave the drains present in the kitchen and bathroom.
